Texas State Information

1.     2024 NBTA rules will be in effect. Refer to the official NBTA rules HERE

2.     The order of performance and lane assignments will be listed in the program. Pageant contestants will perform in alphabetical order starting with the letter “R” and all modeling events will start with the letter “R”. Group Events, Show Twirl, Rhythmic Twirl, Collegiate Twirl, and Down Field will be listed in the State program. Sunday individual events: the first entries to be received will be the last to perform. The last entries to be received will be the first to perform. The order of performance will be listed in the state program.

3.     Contestants must wear tennis shoes or rubber-sole dance shoes on the facility floor.

4.     Food and drinks will be available for sale as a fundraiser for the Thomas Jefferson High School Band. No outside food or drink allowed in the facility. No alcohol or smoking allowed on the premises.

5.     The contest floor is reserved for the contestants and contest officials only. A practice area will be provided. No practicing will be allowed at the facility Friday night.

6.     ADMISSION: Admission into the Thomas Jefferson High School gym for the weekend is being added to every entry. This door/facility surcharge of $50.00 includes one (1) State program. If there is more than one child per family, only one surcharge will be applied.

7.     Programs, t-shirts, and shorts will be available at the Hilton Garden Inn Dallas from 5:30 – 7pm on Friday evening, June 21, 2024.

8.     Thomas Jefferson High School and contest directors/workers are not responsible for accidents, injuries, and lost or stolen property.

9.     Visitor events are offered to out-of-state contestants only. Open strut and one baton events are offered to out-of-state contestants and Texas contestants. The open events can be used as a warm-up before State events in Novice, Beginner, Intermediate, and Advanced divisions.

Miss Majorette of Texas Pageant

Scoring Breakdown: 20% Modeling/Interview + 40% X-Strut + 40% Solo

Advanced Model Attire Guide:

(0-6) Little Miss: short party dress
(7-9) Juvenile: short party dress
(10-12) Pre-Teen: short or long dress
(13-15) Junior: long dress
(16+) Teenage: long dress
College: long dress

Beginner and Intermediate Model
Attire Guide:

In the Beginner and Intermediate divisions, contestants model in strutting costume or twirling costume.

The top 3 advanced pageant winners are eligible to compete in the Miss Majorette of America Pageant. Only first-place Beginner and Intermediate pageant winners are eligible to compete in the national pageant. All college participants are eligible for the College Miss Majorette of America Pageant.

Miss Texas Modeling Pageant

Scoring Breakdown: 50% Modeling + 50% Interview

Model Attire Guide:

(0-6) Little Miss: short/long party dress or costume
(7-9) Juvenile: short/long party dress or costume
(10-12) Pre-Teen: short/long dress or costume
(13-15) Junior: short/long dress or costume
(16+) Teenage: short/long dress or costume

Texas Basic Skills

Scoring Breakdown: 20% Modeling + 40% Basic Strut + 40% Solo

Model Attire Guide:

(0-6) Little Miss: costume
(7-9) Juvenile: costume
(10-12) Pre-Teen: costume
(13-15) Junior: costume
(16+) Teenage: costume

Note: No interview. Texas Basic Skills event does not establish eligibility for AYOP contest.
You may not enter both Basic Skills competition and State Pageant / Miss Majorette of Texas Pageant.

Note: All teachers will receive a copy of all entrants in pageants, solos, and struts. If there is a question on a contestant’s eligibility in a division, it must be handled by May 31, 2024. Proof of wins must be signed by contest directors and submitted to the Texas State Championship director. No complaints or challenges will be accepted on the day of the contest. All twirlers who move to a higher division after submitting their State Championship entry must contact the State Championships Director at 214.850.7819 and provide the necessary information. This must be done by May 31, 2024.

Ratings

In addition to the regular twirling contest, there will be a ratings contest. Contestants will be judged on individual ability and will not be competing against other contestants. Ratings will be open Saturday morning and all-day Sunday for all events.
