Rules Clarification

  1. Contest Age: Your actual age on September 1, 2023, determines your competitive age.

  2. No membership or insurance fees are required to participate in NBTA contests.

  3. All twirlers from all organizations are welcome.

  4. No gymnastics allowed (body aerials, walkovers, cartwheels, butterflies, somersaults) on the floor. The penalty is disqualification.

  5. A state and/or regional pageant beginner contestant may win a beginner title two (2) times. This repeat pageant ruling does not apply to the 0-6 Tiny Tot pageant division. A state and/or regional pageant Intermediate contestant may win an Intermediate title two (2) times. This repeat pageant ruling does not apply to the 0-6 Tiny Tot pageant division. The number of 0-6 beginner and intermediate pageant wins is unrestricted.

  6. Protection Rule: applies at local, state, and regional contests. Should a novice, beginner or intermediate contestant not demonstrate first-place ability, the judge may use a first-place Protection Rule to prevent a win from counting toward advancement. Awards will be presented as advertised.

  7. Contestant classification: No Double-Entering.

Novice: never won five (5) first-place awards in novice-level competition or first-place in a higher division.

Beginner: never won five (5) first-place awards in beginner-level competition or first-place in a higher division.

Intermediate: never won eight (8) first-place awards in intermediate-level competition or first-place in a higher division
